California Superbloom Poppies

There's nothing quite like standing amidst a field of wildflowers that goes on and on and on for dozens of acres. Much of California is fairly dry, but when we get a very wet winter, the following spring the air can get heady with the perfume of millions of blooming flowers.

These very large poppies are made with sewn fabric and fired clay. Each flower is between 12" and 18" in diameter and the entire sculpture is about 6 feet wide.
