Books, bookshelves, and pencils: put them together with a lot of friction and maybe something interesting will happen. Large sheets of art paper were taped onto a couple of very large bookshelves, lots of rubbing with assorted pencils transferred the shape and textures of the books onto the paper. The surprising part of making rubbings is seeing the embossed details on some of the books transfer on the drawing. The completed drawing is a diptych, 3' x 6'
